PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAMS (PNP)
Malkus Immigration can effectively manage applications to Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) for immigrants who want to become Permanent Residents and can contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) are for workers who:
- have work experience, education and skills to contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory
- want to live in that province
- want to become permanent residents of Canada
Each province and territory, except for Nunavut and Quebec, has its own PNP and “streams” (immigration programs that target certain groups) and requirements. Provinces and territories may target:
- students
- business people
- skilled workers
- semi-skilled workers
Applying for Permanent Resident (PR) status through a PNP provides one of the easiest routes to immigrate to Canada. When you are nominated by a province through its nominee program, you will get 600 additional points on your CRS score, the measure by which Express Entry applicants are ranked. The higher your score, the better your chance of being invited to apply. However, applications to PNPs take longer to process than those made through the federal Express Entry System.
While the federal Express Entry program allows you to live in any part of Canada when you become a Permanent Resident, immigrants nominated for PR status through a province's PNP are expected to live in that province for at least two years. Immigrants usually must sign a contract with the province's immigration department to live in the province.
